A multi-sectoral council at the Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI), HKIBC is one of its more than 80 bilateral councils worldwide.

 

The first independent national business chamber for women in India, WICCI is supported by ALL Ladies League (ALL), the Women Economic Forum (WEF), and SHEconomy, an e-commerce and trade platform for goods and services by women worldwide. Together, this web of 250,000 women strive to uphold women's interest in policymaking at multiple levels, work with relevant government authorities in mitigating their challenges, and provide networking, training and mentorships on fundraising, sales, branding, and other relevant leadership and business breakthrough skills.

 

What breakthroughs do women deserve to make? In Hong Kong, the pay gap in 2019 was 20% for hourly pay and 38% for bonuses (Standard Chartered Gender Report 2019).  Over 50% of employers said they would not hire women with children while only 13.6% of directors on Hang Seng Index company boards are women (The Women's Foundation Actioning Gender Equality 2020). Last but not least, women suffer more from depression than men (weforum.org/agenda/2020/03) and to 23%, 1.7 million Hong Kongers suffer from a diagnosable mental health problem.
