SwitchPod is the Ultimate Handheld Tripod for Video Creators On-The-Go

Live on Kickstarter, SwitchPod works with any camera, from a phone to a DSLR, and simplifies video making.

San Diego, CA, United States - March 18, 2019 /MarketersMedia/ —

SwitchPod, the revolutionary new tripod that instantly switches to handheld mode and back in seconds, is live on global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and a breakout success having already raised over $350k.

Anyone that’s ever tried to film themselves knows that it’s harder than it looks. Trying to walk while filming, the curious looks from bystanders, and the overall difficulty in trying to carry a bulky tripod in one hand while trying to keep the camera steady and aligned. Enter the SwitchPod- a lightweight, versatile tripod that instantly flips back and forth between handheld and tripod mode making filming easier than ever.

“The SwitchPod was inspired by the community of vloggers, YouTubers, and video creators who film on the go, like us. We realized that existing portable and handheld tripods were not meeting the needs of the community, and we built something simply to make creating easier,” says co-founder Pat Flynn on the inspiration behind the project. “The tools we use to create videos shouldn't hold us back, and that's where the SwitchPod comes in.”

SwitchPod works with any camera. No more fussing with tripod mounting plates, our embedded 1/4-20" standard tripod screw and tightening knob will help attach any camera in seconds. Magnets help to keep the legs collapsed together while in vlogging mode, but are gentle enough that, with the flick of your wrist, can easily switch to tripod mode. Despite its lightweight design, the SwitchPod is also incredibly strong and made of an aluminum alloy; capable of turning the SwitchPod into a full video rig.

The SwitchPod was painstakingly designed over the past year from the ground up and to be strong, yet lightweight:

• Weight: 11.1 oz / 315 grams
• Material: Aluminum (Alloy)
• Length in Collapsed Handle Mode: 11" long
• Size of Handle: 1.5" deep by 0.75" wide
• Size in Tripod Mode: 9.75" tall by 9.75" wide
• Color: Black
• Two ¼-20 threads for accessories
• Circle pad to protect base of camera
• Patent Pending

“SwitchPod is better because it's solves all the needs of an on-the-go video creator. It switches from vlog mode to tripod mode in just seconds,” adds co-founder Caleb Wojcik. “All in all, it has the creator in mind with every design aspect, and it can even attach to any ball heads for people who want added flexibility to tilt or angle their camera in any direction.”

SwitchPod is currently live and available to support on Kickstarter: http://switchpod.co/

BANGKOK — Thailand's foreign minister said Tuesday that he will summon representatives from the embassies of the European Union and the United States to discuss why he believes they breached diplomatic etiquette by observing a Thai politician being charged with sedition by police. Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said that foreign countries are barred from closely observing internal procedures "not only by etiquette but also by rules and regulations that the whole world abides by." His remarks come after several countries sent envoys to observe a police proceeding at a Bangkok police station on Saturday where Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, leader of a...

Brunei invokes laws allowing stoning for gay sex, adultery

Apr 23, 2019

SINGAPORE — New Islamic criminal laws that took effect Wednesday in Brunei that punish gay sex and adultery by stoning offenders to death have triggered an outcry from countries, rights groups and celebrities far beyond the tiny Southeast Asian nation's shores. The penalties were provided for under new sections of Brunei's Shariah Penal Code. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah instituted the code in 2014 to bolster the influence of Islam in the oil-rich monarchy of around 430,000 people, two-thirds of whom are Muslim. Even before 2014, homosexuality was already punishable in Brunei by a jail term of up to 10 years. The...

Air is so dirty in northern Thailand, leader flies to see it

Apr 23, 2019

CHIANG MAI, Thailand — The air hanging over Thailand's far north has become so polluted, the prime minister went Tuesday to see in person what is being called a severe health crisis. Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha arrived by helicopter at an army base in Chiang Mai, a popular tourist destination where seasonal haze has been unusually bad and prolonged this year. The thick gray smoky air has largely hidden the forested mountains that surround the city, and many schools have closed. Pollution levels have soared into the hazardous zone and remained there for many weeks, putting the city at the...
